GDAA gets new committee, new focus on building





The Game Developers’ Association in successi~ Australia has reorganized with a new Committee structure that incorporates players from from one side of to the other the ever-broadening industry spectrum.

The new Committee is made up of representatives from spasmodic effort-up to large studios from across the country. New GDAA President is Anthony Lawrence of 2K Marin-Canberra, supported ~ means of vice presidents Shainiel Deo of Halfbrick Studios and Ross Symons of Big Ant Studios.

Other Committee members are Amelia King, prior Manager of the Digital Media program at Film Victoria, John Passfield, Creative Director of 3 Blokes Studios, Kevin Chan from THQ BlueTongue, Martin Wilkes from FMOD, Daniel Visser from Wicked Witch Software, Neil Boyd from AIE, Simon Joslin from The Voxel Agents and Paul Callaghan from Freeplay.

“I am to a high degree proud and pleased to take on the role as President of the Game Developers’ Association of Australia and order relish the challenges ahead. The entire board is fully committed to encouraging the increase and development of the Australian games development industry and we turn the thoughts forward to what we all feel are exciting times ahead,” said new GDAA president Anthony Lawrence in a statement released last week.

The starting a~ GDAA committee will focus on education and engage better with the regulation to reinforce the importance of the creative industries to the coming time of the Australian economy. This opportunity to emphasize the Australian games sector comes at the heels of international outcry over the UK’s decision to go back without ceasing assurances that the British government would do more to help its acknowledge game-development sector.

“What’s more the excellent relationships that the GDAA since has with high level government representatives will be sure to back us in positioning our industry for success,” said Antony Reed, CEO of the GDAA.

Al Gibb is Manager of Creative Industries because of the State Government of Victoria, Australia. Al helps to lead the sector through his role at Multimedia Victoria (MMV), which works to grow the ICT sector, and take a ~ economic growth through access to and use of sophisticated technology. Part of the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, MMV furthermore works closely with the ICT industry, education and training providers and the wider calling community.
