Prout Funeral Home has been invited by the nonprofit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) to host an Open House & Tour on October 2, 2010 to show the public the solar technologies they are using to
1) drastically reduce monthly energy bills,
2) reduce harmful carbon emissions, and
3) explain the incentives available through the NJ Clean Energy program.
Local residents can join with participants nationwide to discover the latest real-world insight on how neighbors can use solar and energy efficiency to become more energy independent.
“In the wake of national polls revealing that importing over $24 billion of oil per month and runaway energy costs are economic issues that directly affect the lives of Americans, the ASES Solar Open House & Tour brings real-life examples of how harnessing free energy from the sun to generate electricity can not only slash monthly utility bills now but also contain future energy costs” said Bob Prout, Director of the Prout Funeral Home.
On Saturday, October 2 from 12 Noon to 4PM (tours on the hour), the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona (www.proutfuneralhome.com) will host the local Solar Open House & Tour.
Last year the tour attracted more than 150,000 people in 49 states and gave participants a direct perspective about the costs, components, economic & environmental benefits of going solar.
This event – billed as the largest grassroots solar energy event in the history of the United States – is free and open to the public. Details are available at www.NationalSolarTour.org.
Prout first went Solar in July 2005 by placing 114 panels on the roof of the funeral home that generate 17.4 kW.
Then in April of 2009 the firm completed Phase 2 by installing an additional 36 panels mounted on a fence in the rear of the property that generate 8.2 kW.
Prout Funeral Home is the 2007 recipient of the State of New Jersey Clean Energy Leadership Award for Small Business.
For more than 50 years the American Solar Energy Society has been leading the renewable energy revolution. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the use of solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable technologies across the U.S. ASES leads the national efforts to promote solar energy education, public outreach, and advocacy.
